Which factors affect the valuation of my car?
There are many factors that affect a car’s value including the age, mileage, optional extras, colour and defects.
We ask that you provide thorough details about the mechanical, exterior and interior condition of the car in order
that we can provide an accurate valuation of your car. If you happen to miss a small stone chip or tiny scratch
we will not alter the valuation for your car. If it something more noticeable, then we may need to review it
accordingly. Likewise, if the mileage is lower than actually stated or it has a desirable option then the valuation
maybe actually be higher.
The original valuation will only be adjusted down if your car has any mechanical, electrical,
glasswork, bodywork or interior defects not already disclosed.
Why do you require so much information about my car?
For the simple reason that there are many factors that affect your vehicle’s value and we need
to be accurate with any valuation offered. It is both our own and our customer’s interests to ensure this is the case to avoid
disappointment for either party. We require your personal details firstly to allow us to provide you with a
valuation and secondly, to deter any fake or non-genuine enquires.
I have recieved my valuation and now wish to proceed with the sale, what do I do?
Thank you. Please accept the valuation and complete the details on the original email containing your
valuation. We will need to know the full collection address including post code, date and time of collection, who will be meeting us
there and most importantly, your preferred payment method.
We will then contact you 24 hours before collection to confirm the
details.
When will you contact me?
We will respond to your request for a valuation via email. We will call you approximately 24 hours prior to
your desired collection date to confirm the details. If we need to clarify any points with you we may need to contact
you. We fully appreciate that we are here to provide a hassle free service and the last thing you want is numerous
emails and calls from us.
How long do I have to decide whether I want to sell my car to you?
We will honour our valuation for 14 days from the day it is provided. If you decide after this time
that you want to sell your vehicle to us then we will re-issue a valuation based on the details you initially submitted. All we ask
when you request a new valuation is that you provide the current mileage and any other details that may have changed.
When do you collect my car?
Once you accept the valuation, we will contact you to arrange a convenient day, time and location to collect
the car. This would normally be within a few days but it is possible on some occasions to complete the transaction
the same day.
Can you collect at evenings or weekends?
That will be fine although these times prove very popular and if we already have appointments,
then we may not be able to fit you in. We are able to collect your vehicle from any location on the UK mainland so if you are
available during the day, we will endeavour to collect your vehicle at a convenient time.
How do you pay for my car?
We are able to pay you via banker’s draft or electronic bank transfer. You do not pay for either service.
Upon completion of the vehicle appraisal, we will immediately instruct our bank, LloydsTSB to electronically transfer the money to your
account. The electronic bank transfer can take up to three working days although this is often quicker and depending on your bank, maybe
even be the next day. Alternatively, we will visit the nearest branch of LloydsTSB to collect a banker’s draft for full payment.
Under certain exceptional circumstances, we may even be able to offer payment in cash.
When do you pay for the car?
If you opted for payment via banker’s daft then we will hand that to you prior to removing the car.
Payment via electronic transfer will be made in the presence of the customer, either online, in branch or via telephone banking.
I am not shown as the owner; will you buy the car from me?
If you are a friend, relative or agent of the owner then we’re happy to proceed with the purchase but
we will only be able to pay funds into the lawful owner’s account. We will still require identification relating
to the owner. This will be in the form of proof of address which will need to match the address on the registration
document (V5).
What documentation do I require?
At the point of sale, we require two forms of identification. One must be a form of photo id such as a
driving licence or passport and the other showing the address that is displayed on the registration document (V5). In relation to the
vehicle, we require the V5 and current MOT. We will also need any past MOTs, service book and instruction manuals,
radio codes and all the keys including any if your vehicle has locking wheel nuts.
What do you do with my details?
We fully adhere to the 1998 Data Protection Act and respect the trust you place in us. Subsequently we
will never disclose any of your personal details to a third party.
What if I do not have the registration document for the car?
We will not be able to purchase your vehicle without a valid registration document (V5).
If you are missing the V5 then you will need to apply for a new one through the DVLA using a form V62 obtained either on DVLA’s
website or from any Post Office. This is a simple procedure and should take approximately two weeks to complete.
