| MORE FOR your car is committed to supporting the efforts of the Anthony Nolan Trust (Registered Charity 803716).
MORE FOR your car will donate £10 for every car we purchase. |
| The Trust recruits reliable donors and keeps a record of their tissue type on a register. They then attempt to
match these with those of leukemia patients. At the end of 2007 there were 390,000 donors on this register.
Without this essential service many people will not recover from this awful illness. |
| One of MORE FOR your car’s Company Directors,
Ryan Perry, has personal experience of the valuable work The
Anthony Nolan Trust undertakes. |
Ryan says, “I volunteered to donate a sample a few years ago and never thought for a second that I would ever hear
anything again. In 2009, I was approached by the Anthony Nolan Trust and told that I was a potential match for
a patient. I had to provide further blood cells which were sent off for analysis. I waited a couple of months and
was then told that I was a good match for the patient. After a thorough medical, I was asked to attend a Central London
hospital for a bone marrow harvest. It was my first overnight stay in hospital and my first general anesthetic so I
was a little apprehensive. The whole procedure went very well and albeit with some stiffness and discomfort, I was
discharged the next day. I had no idea who the recipient was or where they were as the process at that stage is
entirely anonymous. It was only three months later when I received a letter from the patient and found out it was a
five year old girl in the UK. So far so good, the girl is doing well and is responding well to the transplant.
I would be lying if I said that I didn’t have a tear in eye! |
I wholeheartedly recommend anyone to volunteer for this. It really gives you a sense of achievement and the more
records held on the Anthony Nolan database, the more people will have a chance to overcome the illness.”
